• Job Title:  Chef
• Department: Kitchen
• Reports to: Kitchen Manager / Hotel Manager

Summary of Positions:

This position supports the Head Chef in both operational and supervisory functions. Such duties must be carried out professionally, and business-like, with flexibility and strong leadership abilities. This position is expected to communicate and coordinate effectively with Kitchen Manager and any other Chef.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for the kitchen’s daily operations.
• Liaising with the relevant companies for food orders.
• Creating new dishes and menus.
• Maintaining/raising the food’s profit margins for your employer.
• Monitoring and controlling stock levels.
• Ensuring correct stock rotation procedures are followed.
• Implementation of health and safety procedures in the kitchen.Controlling and directing the food preparation process
• Managing and working closely with other Chefs of all levels
• Creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes ensure variety and quality
• Determining food inventory needs, stocking, and ordering
• Ultimately responsible for ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines
• Being accountable for food hygiene practices

Qualification and Skills

• Level 1,2 and 3 Food Safety Awards
• Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
• Awareness of manual handling techniques
• Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
• Experience with kitchen equipment
• Competent level of English spoken and written

• Ability to produce excellent high-quality food
• Team management skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Good level of numeracy
• Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
• Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work
• Team player qualities
